Title: "I Am Malala" Achieve Article
Standard: RI 8.2
Content Objective: I will be able to  determine the main idea and key details of a text by completing the Achieve article at 75% or higher and responding to the Thought Question.

Language Objective: I will  cite evidence from the article to use in my Thought Question Response.
Homework: Bring your reading book to school.

Do Now: Get your laptop. Mr. Westrup will pass out your graded essay rubric. Read it to determine what your essay did well and what needs to be improved. Mr. Westrup will collect the rubric.

Step 2: "I Am Malala" Achieve Article

1.  Do you think that you can do anything with a lot of hard work?

2. Complete the Achieve article  "I Am Malala" by doing the following:​​
  1. Read the article to understand what it is about.
  2. Look at the questions. Go back and reread the article to find the answers to the questions.
  3. Thought Question:
    1. Do you believe that you can be successful without working hard? Why or why not?
3. Click here to go to Achieve.
Grading Scale:
100% = A, 88%-75% = B, 63%-0% = NP
Rewards:
100%  = 2 Jolly Ranchers, 88% = 1 Jolly Rancher, 75% = High-Five
